I decided to go out of my comfort zone and pick not only a guy, but a well built kickass general with a haircut that all business. Also, very vague Amano designs. Also, a skin tone that is more of a dark olive tan tone.

This is a hybrid of digital and traditional, as the inking was by hand over an enlarged light blue print of my initial sketch, then scanned back in. I've done this for other pieces, and it's a lot faster for me to ink by hand and then edit than doing it all digitally. It took me forever to get the coloring the way I wanted; I had to remember what I learned from working in traditional, where the answer to shadows and highlights aren't 'the color, just lighter or darker', but 'pick another color entirely that'd look darker'.
